"The Florentine Iris" Course: Create Your Own Designer Silk Scarf

2-week immersive batik workshop in the heart of Tuscany.

This course is a creative journey from a piece of raw white silk to an exclusive accessory featuring the iconic symbol of Florence. Under Elena’s expert guidance, you will craft a unique piece that blends elegant graphic lines with the magical flow of watercolor on fabric.

Course Highlights

Composition & Sketching: Study the anatomy of the Iris and design a harmonious layout for a classic square "Carré" scarf.

Cold Batik Technique: Master the art of using outliners (gutta) to create precise, delicate, and professional contours.

Painting on Silk: Explore color theory, creating soft gradients and sophisticated transitionsfrom pale lilac to deep royal purple.

Special Effects & Textures: Learn to use salt and alcohol techniques to add "airiness," depth, and artistic texture to your background.

Finishing Touches: Discover the secrets of color fixation (steaming), edge finishing, and the various stylish ways to wear your handcrafted silk accessory.

The Result: Your very own hand-painted silk scarf a luxurious memento of Florence, created by you

Schedule: Monday to Friday (3 hours per day: includes two hours of instruction and one independent assignment hour)

Please note, the workshop is not a separate course but is a part of our full-time program. It means that when you take the course you join the existing group of the students of a long-term program. However, as we valued 1 to 1 teaching and individual follow-up, each workshop student will receive the same amount of feedback and necessary assistance from the professor.

If there is a tour of the museum organised, the entrance fee is paid by the student, while professional guidance of the teacher is included in tuition. There is no class on days of Italian public holidays.

Tuition fee: 1.200 euro
