January 7th to March 27th, 2026

May 4th to July 24th, 2026

August 31st to November 20th, 2026

Introduction

This course is designed for advanced students who wish to deepen their understanding of portraiture. The curriculum includes a variety of supplementary classes such as composition studies, quick sketch, old master copies, and plein-air painting. The specific combination of supplementary classes offered depends on the period in which you enroll (Winter, Spring, or Summer). You may request detailed information about the available class combinations for the period you are interested in.

Students may choose between two tracks—painting or drawing—depending on availability at the time of application. Admission to this course is granted only after a portfolio review by the FCAA Board of Professors.

Learning Outcomes

·      Understanding the compositional arrangement of the canvas

·      Mastering proportions of the major and minor forms of the head

·      Deepening anatomical analysis and applying it in both drawing and painting

·      Refining facial details (nose, eyes, lips, etc.)

·      Developing a broader coloristic and tonal vision, with refined execution across all aspects

·      Revealing the physiological and character-specific qualities of the model

Schedule

Monday to Friday — 3 hours per day
(Includes two hours of instruction and one hour of independent work)

Please note that this workshop is not a standalone course; it is integrated into our full-time program. This means that participants join an existing long-term student group. However, because we value one-to-one teaching and individualized guidance, each workshop participant receives the same level of personal feedback and support from the professor.

If a museum visit is organized, the entrance fee is to be covered by the student, while the professor’s professional guidance is included in the tuition. There are no classes on Italian public holidays.

Tuition Fee: €5,700
